NAEYC & DEC Ideals

NAEYC Ideals
-To be familiar with the knowledge base of early childhood care and education and to stay informed through continuing education and training.
-To ensure that each child's culture, language, ethnicity, and family structure are recognized and valued in the program.
-To use assessment information to understand and support children's development and learning to support instruction, and identify children who may need additional services.

DEC Ideals
- We shall rely upon evidence based research and interventions to inform our practice with children and families in our care.
-We shall respect, value, promote, and encourage the active participation of all families by engaging families in meaningful ways in the assessment and intervention processes.
-We shall honor and respect the diverse backgrounds or our colleagues including such diverse characteristics as sexual orientation, race, national origin, religious beliefs, or other affiliations.



All of the ideals play a major role in the education field. These ideals will help me a better person and teacher. It will also help me to have more knowledge about this field.
